We cycled around the pretty Sun Moon Lake. It was easy to get to the lake from Tainan by public bus.

Taiwan Day 11 – Around Tainan
After traveling from Kaohsiung, we spent the afternoon exploring Tainan.

Taiwan Day 10 – Kaohsiung and Cijin Island
On a rainy day, we took the ferry from Kaohsiung to Cijin Island to explore the area.

Taiwan Day 8 – Kenting Loop
A loop ride from Hengchun, around Kenting and the southernmost point on Taiwan.

Taiwan Day 7 – National Aquarium and Hengchun
We spent most of the day at Taiwan’s National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, and made a short loop ride.

Taiwan Day 6 – Chishang to Taitung
We cycled by the Takeshi Kaneshiro Tree and Brown Boulevard near Chishang on our final day in Taiwan’s rift valley.

Taiwan Day 4 – Hualien to Ruisui
After a train trip to avoid a dangerous highway, we cycled into Taiwan’s rift valley.

Taiwan Day 3 – Jiufen to Jiaoxi
We rode down the mountain, then around the coast to the hot spring town of Jiaoxi on the east coast.

Taiwan Day 2 – Keelung to Jiufen
Our second day of riding day took us from the northern town of Keelung to the mountain town of Jiufen, with a morning detour to the Buddha’s Hand Cave and the adjacent Fairy Cave.

Taiwan Day 1 – Taipei to Keelung
Our first rising day took us from central Taiwan to the north coast.
